![]() The sportier version will be followed by other top trims before the 1LT arrives last with the base battery pack. The Equinox EV will debut in the fall of 2023 with a limited-edition 2RS. A dual-motor all-wheel drive version ups the output to 290-horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. On the electric, the standard front-wheel-drive system provides 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. The gasoline-powered 2022 Equinox is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Safety and convenience features come standard on the higher trims, beyond available Super Cruise driving assist on highways, with adaptive cruise control, HD surround cameras, a power liftgate and heated seats. On all trims above 1LT, General Motors’ Super Cruise hands-free driving system will be available, along with a 17.7-inch touchscreen and head-up display. Like the Blazer EV, the Equinox EV will use GM’s new Ultifi electrical system to run software and infotainment options. Inside it will seat five passengers across two rows. ![]() On 2LT and 2RS, a white or black roof is available, respectively, for more of a throw-back two-toned experience. The trims continue with 2LT, 2RS (plus a special launch edition 2RS version), 3LT and 3RS with the top trims riding on 21-inch aluminum wheels. A bigger battery-equipped 1LT will offer 280- or 300-mile range, depending on FWD or AWD. The base 1LT on a smaller battery will have FWD system standard and 250-mile range. The LT will have black with blue interior or gray, while RS offers black with red or an all red interior. The Equinox EV starts with LT or RS trim levels. Redesigned in 2018, the current Equinox is already showing its age in the rapidly changing automotive landscape and the influx of modern battery-electric vehicles. The Equinox EV will arrive with a dramatically streamlined and modern design, including full-width taillamps and an overall sportier vibe than the current third-generation gasoline-powered Equinox. The upcoming Equinox will be lower, wider and longer: It’s 9 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the gas Equinox thanks to the Ultium battery layout. The new Equinox EV is larger than the Bolt and Bolt EUV but smaller than the mid-size Blazer and upcoming Blazer EV. The electric Equinox will have up to 300-mile range. Comprised of entirely new components including the batteries, electronics and associated hard- and software, the Ultium EV system forms the basis for most of Chevrolet’s recently announced electric vehicles. The new Ultium battery technology was designed from the ground up to be flexible enough to accommodate numerous sizes and styles of vehicles and is capable of 19 battery and drive unit configurations and energy options ranging from 50 to 200 kWh. However, unlike the Bolt and Bolt EUV, the Equinox EV will be built on GM’s new modular Ultium platform. ![]() The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will arrive in fall 2023 with a roughly $30,000 starting price. Those same attributes make it an ideal candidate for electrification, and Chevrolet hopes mainstream consumers will respond with the same enthusiasm that generated sales of over 364,000 units for the regular Equinox in 2019 alone. ![]() It slots nicely into the compact SUV segment, and its size, styling and affordable price cast a wide net. The Chevrolet Equinox is the brand’s second-highest selling nameplate, second only to the full-size Silverado pickup. ![]()
